Vote 4 Stein?

October 17, 2016

I think it’s very important not to rise above the fray. When there’s a decisive battle being fought, you have to be there, on the field where it will be won or lost.

I think that’s why Bernie, a former 3rd party candidate himself, an Independent Senator, ran for the presidential nomination as a Democrat. He wants to directly engage the enemy (and the Republican Party is an enemy of democracy and the green world). And he stays in the battle by supporting Hillary.

The force of the electorate must be applied where the Republicans (and especially actual T supporters) will actually feel it, not only in this election, but in the way the magnitude of the Democratic victory influences the ongoing conflict. We must give Hillary a popular mandate for Reconstruction of our politics and nation—and that means a massive popular vote majority, not just a majority in the electoral college.

When we have saved our democracy and retaken the Supreme Court, we will have prepared the field for engaging the Democrats about the health of the planet.  It pains me to say it, but a vote for the Green Party, at this moment, will miss the mark and have no impact.  It won’t be helpful.

Now, having said that, we have to vote with our eyes wide open to the chances that President Hillary actually will lead an adequate effort of Reconstruction of our politics (crucially, the Democratic Party).  At the least, as this essay by Chris Hedges makes clear, losing the present battle would lose the war, but winning it will not win the war. H has called herself “transactional.”  We will have to be “transformational.”

[Johnson?, Trump?, Hillary?, Abstain?, What election?]
