Diary 10-12-15

Dear Diary – Did I hear you thinking, But what did they eat? Good point. I should have said more about that. I like to drink something hot to help me start my day, and for decades that has been coffee, in recent years with chocolate powder and a touch of milk; but while dieting it was a mildly caffeinated green tea, or a decaf lemon-ginger pseudo-tea (I’ve always reacted badly to almost all herbal teas), with some honey (somewhat moderating my craving for sugar).

Then for breakfast H would make blue smoothies, as in blueberries, plus some selection from apple, pear, cucumber, flax seed, chia seed, coconut butter, pumpkin seed butter, protein powder, macha powder, fresh ginger and turmeric roots.

For the big lunch H was usually at work. I would eat soup that H had fixed, of Indian split peas or various kinds of lentils, carrots, shallots, mushrooms, spinach, coconut oil and coconut milk, turmeric and cumin. Sometimes fish, especially salmon. Sometimes chicken, or more often chicken liver. And a salad of red cabbage, romaine lettuce, fennel, sometimes avocado, dressed in olive oil, red wine vinegar, and tamari sauce.

For dinner H would make green smoothies, same as blue but with spinach or kale.

I was allowed to snack during the day, and always did, on apples, pears, walnuts, almonds, small chunks of herring, hummus, olives, and rice cakes. Tea during the day, too, and water with lemon.

Yummy.
