The Sound and the Foolish

June 25, 2015

Six Supreme Court Justices voted to affirm the obvious meaning of the text of the Afordable Care Act, and thus not take away health insurance/security/relative peace of mind/etc. from millions of Americans. Excellent. Onward to Medicare for All and the recognition that our Constitution gives us the right, in a democracy, to join hands, via our government, to provide all of us with good health care (which is necessary to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness).

And yet, three Justices voted to take a sentence of a text, out of its context, and thus construe it to mean something that it obviously doesn’t mean. And then one of them, a grown man, threw a verbal tantrum because he didn’t get his way.

What law school?  Kindergarten?

From → democracy, health
