Diary 6-10-15

June 10, 2015

Dear Diary, for dinner I decided to check out a restaurant that opened last week in Columbia City, just a pleasant summer walk from chez moi. Raw and cooked seafood, “with a Vietnamese twist.” Not feeling flush in the wallet this evening, I economized by drinking only water, which didn’t ruin the meal, but didn’t enhance it either. I had salmon tartare, with quail egg and grilled capers, and a shredded radish salad. And a white bean dish (their nod to vegetarians—which I pretty much am, plus fish) which turned out to be the beans cooked in a crock pot with a very moist grain (not sure what it was, and the menu was gone) and mushrooms over those. And I think I “detected” just the right small amount of lime, probably cooked with the shrooms. But what do I know? Not much, but it was good and did seem Vietnamese. For the flavors, I’d go there often, for the prices, not so often. But a very satisfying meal.
