Diary 4-17-15

April 17, 2015

Dear Diary – Heidi and Jillian and I spent the day at Langley on Widbey Island, so J could shop for beads at Music for the Eyes: West/Mid-Asia rugs and such, and fine beads. Fabulous store. When the owner (a retired diplomat) heard that Soren has been wanting to learn to play the saz (bağlama), he lent us his for a few weeks for S to try, and told us a lot about Morocco, where S might soon visit, including the recent development of a Berber written language, along with official national acceptance of the Berber people and culture.

We also wanted to give J a taste of the islands, since she is thinking of buying a residence in Seattle.

A terrific saz performance.
