“a well regulated Militia”

July 22, 2012

To restate the obvious:  “a well regulated Militia” (US Constitution, Article II) would be (1) regulated, and (2) reasonably and effectively regulated. In our time, reasonable regulation of our “militia” (defined by the Xtreme Right as anybody who wants to own a gun), would include registration of guns, and a ban on assault rifles. Not just any ol’ laissez-faire, Libertarian militia.  Currently we have an unconstitutional “unregulated Militia.”

Really, this is a simple matter, easily thought-through.  The only thing preventing us from reasonably regulating our shooters is the profit motivation of antisocial personalities who profit from the gun industry (of which the NRA is just a major tool).
